About T3

The third transition is the friends you make.

T3 is a friendly South Dublin triathlon club based at UCD, where athletes of all abilities train, race and enjoy the sport together. Coaching, training partners and community help members work towards their own goals.

Where the name comes from

T3 is a triathlon club made up of people who came together to train and became friends. Swim, bike and run have their two transitions. The third is what happens around them: the chat after the session, the coffee after the ride, the person who waits for you at the top of the hill.

We welcome beginners and ambitious age-group athletes alike. Some members are preparing for a first sprint triathlon; others are chasing a marathon PB, an Ironman finish, National Series podiums or championship qualification. Plenty began as nervous swimmers or cautious cyclists. Whatever your goal, you’ll find coaching, training partners and community support to help you work towards it.

Coached sessions

Our coached sessions are included with Full Membership, with training for swimmers, runners and cyclists of different standards and goals. The timetable changes with the season, so check the days, times and locations on our training page and ask a coach which session suits you. Coached sessions do not run in August.

Social runs and rides

Social runs and rides happen most weeks, only when a run or ride leader is available. They do not go ahead without a leader. Distances, paces and group sizes depend on who comes along, so ask what is planned and find a pace that suits you.

What members say about T3.

Thanks to everyone at T3 for the swims, the spins, the Sunday miles and the company. It really is an amazing club full of amazing people. See you at the pool.

Scott Field18th, a dodgy calf and AI in my pocket, 2026

From what started as a random adventure, triathlon is (hopefully) a bit of a lifestyle for me now.

Kat SherlingKat's Ironman Hamburg, 2022

People talk of the discipline required and all the training for the marathon, but being part of T3 makes this truly an entirely different experience.
